≪活動報告≫

１．国内研修を終えて、ついに英国訪問が始まった。結団式も順調に進み、大きな問題もなく日本を出発した。機内では、発表の準備をしたり、休息をとったりなどして、有意義な時間を過ごすことができた。

２．ヘルシンキを経由して、ヒースロー空港に到着した。空港では荷物を受け取った後に夕食を購入し、バスでホテルに向かった。ホテルに到着後、次の日の発表に向けて各自最終調整を行った。

≪Activity Report≫

1. We gathered at the Central Japan International Airport in the early morning and attended the inaugural meeting. It was carried out smoothly and we left for London without any specific problems. On the airplane, we prepared for the competition and had a rest.

2. All of us arrived at Heathrow via Helsinki. After receiving baggage, we bought dinner and went to the hotel by bus. At the hotel, each of us practiced for the competition to be held the next day.

≪今日の行程≫

  合同研究発表会

≪活動報告≫

今日は英国研修の初日であり、今回の研修で最も重要な合同研究発表会がセント・ポールズ校で行われた。ベルギー、ドイツ、日本、アメリカ、イギリスから合計21校の生徒が集まり、口頭発表や、ポスターセッションを英語で行った。口頭発表の生徒も、練習の成果を発揮することができ、質問にも答えることができた。

ポスターセッションでは、積極的に話しかけ発表することの大切さを学んだ。他国の生徒はそれを実践しており、今後日本でも取り入れたいと思った。戸惑うことや、わからないこともあったが、全員が十分に研究と発表練習の成果を出すことができた。

SS Global Study Trip in the UK (Day 2)

  Sixth International Science Conference

≪Activity Report≫

It was the first day in the UK and we had the joint research presentation at St. Paul’s School. It was the most important event in this trip. Students gathered from 21 schools in 5 countries (Belgium, Germany, Japan, the U.S. and the U.K.). We made stage presentations and poster ones in English. In the stage presentation, we showed the result of the practice so far.

In the poster session, we learned the importance of positive communication and clear delivery. Students from other countries seemed to have no difficulty. In the future, we want to take in such skills. It is certain that we learned a lot. We hope we will make full use of today's experience.

１． ロンドン科学博物館における研修及びレポートの作成

２． ロンドン自然史博物館における研修及びレポートの作成

≪活動報告≫

１． 上述のように我々は科学博物館にて将来を見据えた学術的見学を行った。雨の滴が直垂落ちそうな積雲の中、科学館内部ではその仕組みに対する使節一同の好奇心を揺さぶるような展示、つまり、蒸気機関や時計に関する貴重な展示や、それに加えて、地球の神秘や大気に関する展示が数多くあった。

２． ロンドン科学博物館を後にした我々は、徒歩にて豪華絢爛たる様相を施した自然史博物館を訪れた。工事のため正面玄関を見学できない悲しみを抑えつつ自然への好奇心を胸にして地学、生物学を基礎とした展示物を目の当たりにした。その中にある日本に関する展示を一瞥し、地震大国日本としての自覚を改めて感じた。

≪Activity Report≫

1. As is mentioned above, we visited the Science Museum as a study in the morning. There we fixed our eyes on future. In an overcast sky, we were burning with intellectual curiosity to learn about the modern inventions such as steam engines, watches and clocks. In addition, we got fascinated with a lot of displays on a complex mechanism of the earth.

2. After that, we paid a visit at the Natural History Museum, which we felt is splendid. It was pathetic that we could not see the front entrance of the main building. However, with intellectual curiosity, we were glad to see some displays on biology and geoscience. In addition to that, when we saw displays regarding the earthquakes in Japan, we realized again that Japan has a lot of earthquakes.

≪今日の行程≫

１． ケンブリッジ大学研修

２． キャべンディッシュ研究所及びケンブリッジ市内研修

≪活動報告≫

１． 午前中、ケンブリッジ大学では最初に時枝先生から「一枚の紙からひろがる科学」の演題で講義を受けた。次にコーツ先生から日本の種々の磁器や、コーツ先生の専門分野である数学について講義を受けた。午後にはケンブリッジ大学でご活躍されている柳田先生と岩田先生から講義を受けた。海外で研究を行う日本人の先生方から研究や生活の実体験、経験といった他では得られないお話を伺い、将来を考える上でよい機会になった。

２． 午後は、多数のノーベル賞受賞者を輩出したキャベンディッシュ研究所を見学した。ＤＮＡの二重らせん構造を発見したワトソンとクリックの展示を始め、多くの発明品や写真を観ることができた。科学の歴史を授業で学んだよりも詳しく知ることができ、科学への興味が高まった。

≪Activity Report≫

1. In the morning, we received two lectures. Dr. Tokieda taught us about topological geometry with a piece of paper. Dr. Coates gave us a lecture about mathematics, which he studies, and Japanese porcelain. In the afternoon, we received two more lectures from Japanese researchers in Cambridge. Dr. Yanagida and Dr. Iwata told us about their research, daily life and experiences. It was a good opportunity to consider our future.

2. In the afternoon, we visited Cavendish Laboratory, which produced a large number of Novel Prize winners. We saw a lot of inventions and pictures, including the display of the double-helix structure of DNA found by Watson and Crick. We understood what we learned in classes more in detail and we got more interested in science.

≪活動報告≫

１． 上述のように大英博物館へ向かった使節一同は大英帝国時代の威厳と壮麗さを醸し出す建築技術に心を打たれながら、その門をくぐるとモアイ像やロゼッタストーンといった世界各国津々浦々の歴史的遺構を目の当たりにした。その中で人類の作り出した美に酔いしれた。この感動を使節一同忘れることはあるまい。

２． 日本を動かした偉人たちの面影を感じながら、禁じえぬ胸の踊りを抑えつつ、我々使節一同は大沼教授の案内を受けて大学の門をくぐった。この喜びは誰もにとってかけがえのない思い出となっただろう。しかし、それ以上に教授の熱意的な講義は使節一同に未来への懸け橋を与えるものになったであろう。

≪Today’s plan≫

1.Visiting the British Museum

2.Visiting UCL (University College London)

≪Activity Report≫

1. As is mentioned above, we visited the British Museum in the morning. We were deeply moved by the architectonic technique of the museum, which shows the dignity and the splendid aura of the British Empire. After we passed the gate, we saw a lot of historical structures in the world, including a Moai and the Rosetta stone with our own eyes. We were so deeply impressed by the beauty which humans have made. We cannot forget it.

2. After that, we passed the gate of UCL. Prof. Shinichi Onuma gave us a lecture there. We learned that we should study abroad someday and that the experience will be meaningful to us. His lecture inspired us so much that we felt a sense of accomplishment. In the campus, we also found the trace of Japanese heroes who established the constitutional government.

≪今日の行程≫

１． 貸し切りバスにてヒースロー空港へ

２． 帰国、解散式

≪活動報告≫

全ての英国での研修を終えた。思い返せば長いようで実にあっという間の一週間だった。２３人全員が、大きなけがや病気を患うことなく無事に日本に帰り着いた。解散式で代表生徒が、感謝の気持ちを述べた。

　　　

この英国研修では新たに実験競技会が開かれるなど非常に有意義なものとなった。このような素晴らしい機会を与えていただいたことに感謝し、今後より一層励んでいきたい。

≪Today’s plan≫

≪Activity Report≫

We finished all the activeties in the UK. Thinking back the week, our study trip seemed to be so long, but we feel quite short. Eventually, all of 23 students came back to Japan without any injuries or illness. Our representative expressed our gratitude.

　

This study trip in the UK was greatly significant thanks to a lot of nice opportunities such as the first science competition. We would like to thank for this nice opportunity and to make greater efforts.
