《活動報告》
英国での全ての研修を終えた。離陸時に涙を流す生徒もいたほど、かけがえがなく充実した１週間だった。機内からはオーロラが見え、生徒達はその現象に興味を抱いた。３２人全員が、けがや病気もなく無事に日本へと帰り着いた。解散式で副団長は、皆に感謝の気持ちを述べた。

今回の訪英研修には、ＳＳＨ事業ならではの見学先や体験が多く含まれていた。この研修を通し、英語力の向上はもちろんのこと、サイエンスの学習や、海外留学への意欲が大いに高まった。また、美しいものや本物にたくさん出会えた。この１週間が私達の未来に影響をもたらすことは間違いない。このような貴重な機会を与えていただいたことに心から感謝し、この先の学習に活かしていきたい。

We finished all the activities in the UK. This one week was such fulfilling, wonderful days that some students cried before the flight. Some students saw an aurora from the airplane. Students were fascinated with it. Finally, all of the 32 students came back to Japan without any injuries or illnesses. Our vice leader expressed her gratitude to everyone.

This trip to the UK included a lot of visits and experiences that we cannot have in other programs. This study encouraged us to study science in foreign countries. We also met many beautiful, real things there. This experience will have some influences on our future. We need to thank for this awesome opportunity and to make full use of it for our future.

《今日の日程》
日英独三国の生徒による合同研究発表会の実施
《活動報告》
本日は英国最後の研修日であり、このプログラムにおいて最も重要な日だ。ラグビー校の会場には日本、イギリス、ドイツの３か国が集まり、９つのプレゼンテーションを聴講した。日本からも３つの研究を発表し、英語による質疑応答を行った。イギリスやドイツの生徒の発表から、他分野の科学についても、理解を深めることができた。また口頭発表では、どの生徒も積極的に自分の研究成果を発表した。これまで積み重ねてきた実験・研修の成果を大いに活かすことができた。

発表会の後にはグラウンドへ移動し、皆でペンシルロケットの打ち上がる様子を観察した。またラグビー校はラグビー発祥の地でもあり、実際にボールを蹴らせていただくという日英独の交流の時間も設けられた。

Fifth International Student Science Conference
《Activity Report》
It was the last day of studying in the UK and we had the most significant event in this SSH program. Students from the UK, Germany and Japan gathered in Rugby School and listened to 9 lectures. Japanese students presented 3 studies and discussed in English. From the presentations of the UK and German students, we learned about unfamiliar areas of science. As for the poster session, each student presented their studies without hesitation. Everyone did their best.

After that, we went out to the wide ground to see the launch of a pencil rocket. In addition, we had a chance to kick a rugby ball. We learned the sport at its birthplace.

２．合同研究発表会の準備
《活動報告》
１．本日も地下鉄で移動し、ロンドン市内の研修をした。新ウェストミンスター宮殿では、国会議事堂にニュートンが埋葬されていることや、立ち並ぶ像の意味などを教えていただいた。その後ナショナルギャラリーを訪れた。レオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチ、ラファエロなどの絵画に出会い、自然を描く見事なタッチに目を奪われた。午後からグリニッジ天文台を見学した。実際に本初子午線に立ち、１９世紀のイギリスが持つ権力の大きさを実感した。施設内では、ハレーの望遠鏡や時計のしくみなどの展示を見学することができた。

２． １９時から２時間に渡り、ホテル内のロビーで合同研究発表会の練習を行った。この５日間多くの研修や訪問を重ねてきたが、今研修の最大の目的はやはり、明日の発表会だ。練習形式は自分たちで考え、それぞれが最終確認を行った。皆が緊張感を持ち、真剣な面持ちであった。

1. We moved by underground. In Westminster, we heard that Newton has been buried there and 10 standing statues have different meanings. After that, we went to the National Gallery. We were attracted by the paintings drawn by Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello and so on. In the afternoon, we visited Greenwich. We stood on the prime meridian and learned how strong the UK was in the 19th century. In the observatory, we took a look at displays such as telescopes and watches.

2. From 7 p.m., we had a presentation rehearsal for two hours. We have experienced a lot of things during these 5 days, but our most important mission on this study trip is to have a success in the science conference at Rugby School tomorrow. We practiced very hard so that we won’t regret it later.

《活動報告》
１．自然史博物館内は、ステゴサウルスの化石やダーウィンの進化論に関する展示が大々的になされていた。また科学博物館では、世界で初めて有人月面着陸を実現させたアポロ11号の実物が印象的だった。両博物館の研修を通して、人類をはじめとする地球上の生物の発展の歴史を、様々な分野から学ぶことができた。

２．午後からは、画家のターナーやミレー、ナポレオンを倒したアーサー王が眠ることで知られるセントポール大聖堂で研修を行った。１８世紀に造られたとは思えない高さと彫刻に圧倒された。長い螺旋階段を上ると、ロンドン市内が一望できた。英国研修も４日目となりイギリスの街並みや現地での英会話、レジでの小銭の使い方にもだんだんと慣れてきた。

《Activity Report》
1. At the Natural History Museum, there were many displays about dinosaurs, insects and creatures living in the deep sea. These discoveries have deep relationships with Darwin’s theory of evolution.
At the Science Museum, we saw the genuine spaceship, Apollo 11. We learned a lot of human’s developments and all of them were so amazing.

2. In the afternoon, we visited St. Paul’s Cathedral, which is famous for the graves of some heroes such as Turner, Millais and King Arthur. There we went upstairs and got a panoramic view of London. The landscape was fantastic. We are getting used to the atmosphere of the UK, conversation with the people and other kinds of custom here. We’ve learned a lot.

１．ケンブリッジ大学研修
２．キャベンディッシュ研究所及びケンブリッジ市内研修
《活動報告》
１．午前中、ケンブリッジ大学では４つの講義を受けた。クマール先生からエネルギー問題に関する最先端の研究、コーツ先生から伝統的な日本の磁器や、図形と方程式についてお話いただいた。さらに、アメリカ英語とイギリス英語の違いを実感できる機会となった。また午後からは、ケンブリッジ大学で活躍されている杉目先生、四井先生の講義を受けた。それぞれの研究内容や海外に出るタイミングなどの、貴重なお話をしていただいた。その他にもケンブリッジ大学周辺では、本校に接ぎ木のあるニュートンのリンゴの木を見学した。

２．２班に分かれて、順にキャベンディッシュ研究所を訪問した。ワトソンとクリックに関する展示やクルックス管などの実験器具を見学し、その歴史から物理・化学分野の探求心を強めることができた。ＳＳＨの事業ならではの貴重な経験に、皆心を躍らせている。

１．Visiting the University of Cambridge
２．Visiting Cavendish Laboratory and studying in the city of Cambridge
《Activity Report》
1. In the morning, we received four lectures. Dr. Kumar told us about the issue of energy consumption. And Dr. Coates talked about Japanese traditional porcelain and his research field: mathematics. After lunch, we listened to two more lectures. The lecturers, Dr. Sugime and Ms. Yotsui, are studying in the University of Cambridge. We were encouraged to study abroad in our future. Near the college, we saw the apple tree which is famous for the law of gravitation established by Isaac Newton. As you may know, Jishukan high school also has three apple trees derived from this tree.

2. We were divided into two groups and visited Cavendish Laboratory. We saw the display of the double-helix structure of DNA found by Watson and Crick and some experiment tools like Crookes Tube. We’ve heard about them in Science class before. All of us were fascinated with such precious experiences thanks to this SSH program.

《活動報告》
１．本日は地下鉄で移動し、大英博物館にて研修を行った。これまで世界史の授業等で学んだ歴史的な展示物、資料を目の当たりにし、その迫力に圧倒された。改めて歴史を学ぶ意義を深く感じた。
２．ＵＣＬでは、眼科学・癌科学の教授である、大沼先生の講義を受けた。ＵＣＬを始めとするイギリスの大学の魅力を聞き、海外進出による多大な可能性を知り、その意識が高められた。皆が興味を持って聞き入り、活発な質疑がなされた。

３．バッキンガム宮殿研修では、イギリス王室の歴史を学ぶことができた。帰りは憧れの赤い二階建てバスであるルートマスターに乗り、英国の街並みを拝見した。日本にはないレンガ造りの家や、煙突付きの建物から、英国の暮らしぶりを感じることができた。

《Activity Report》
1. Today, we took a subway to visit the places to see. In the British Museum, we took a look at a lot of historical materials which we’d learned in World History classes before. All of them attracted us.
2. In UCL, we received a wonderful lecture. The lecturer, Dr. Shinichi Ohnuma, is studying cancer and ophthalmology. He told us how wonderful studying at British colleges is. We learned the potential of studying abroad. After listening to his lecture, we asked him questions from several points of view.

3. After that, we visited Buckingham Palace to learn the history of British royal family. On the way to the hotel, we took a red double-decker called Route Master and enjoyed the landscape. We saw houses with brick wall and chimneys, and noticed that living of British people is different from that of Japanese people.

１．これまで9回にわたる国内研修を重ねてきたが、本日からついにイギリス訪問が始まる。結団式はスムーズに行われ、代表の生徒が意気込みを述べた。生徒達は、機内でしおりを読むなど有意義に過ごすことができた。

２．ヘルシンキを経由した後、32人全員が無事にロンドンに着いた。駅内のコンビニエンスストアで夕食を購入し、明日からの研修に備えて、本日はゆっくり就寝する。

1. We’ve received training 9 times until today and now is the time to leave for the UK. The team formation ceremony was carried out smoothly. During the meeting, our leader showed positive attitude to everyone. In the airplane, students spent fulfilling hours in their own ways.
