Our school was founded in 1752, during the middle of the Edo period as a clan school of Yoshida feudal clan of what is called now Toyohashi city. The rich 273-year-old history of this school has shaped it to its present state, and this year marks the 122nd anniversary of the establishment of our modern school buildings and grounds. An affiliated junior high school is scheduled to open in spring 2026.

Our school has been designated as Super Science High School(SSH) since the year 2008. Based on our implementation of SSH program and other projects including international exchange with St. Paul’s High School and St. Paul’s Girls’ School in London, England, we carried out our Core SSH program: “Exchange and interaction of science and technology with public schools in Britain” with several high schools in Aichi Prefecture. Following this, we made sister-school agreements with Otto-von-Taube Gymnasium in Munich, Germany and Jit Sin High School in Penang, Malaysia. We have accepted many students other countries as well. We have been engaging in encouraging students to fully develop their skills through international exchange.
We hope that our students, inspired by students overseas, will be directed to have higher goals and to become strong enough to take on challenge despite difficulties. We also hope that every one of our students will understand the importance of liberal arts and learn dignity and liveliness of mind through making earnest efforts to pursue a noble aim.
